The Butler Area School Board took a closer look Monday at anticipated budget figures for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
Director of Finance and Operations Heather Bonzo outlined the numbers the district is projecting for next year- including an expected budget increase of just over 2.5% compared to the current school year.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White does not anticipate the need for a tax increase although he did mention that local revenue will likely be down compared to last year because of reassessment settlements like the recent one with Moraine Pointe. He also went on to say that some of the district’s buildings have “significant needs” but the district is trying to avoid borrowing money.
Discussions about possible state revenue as well as balancing projected expenses for next year is expected to continue over the next several months until a preliminary budget is presented in early May followed by final approval in June.
