The Public Utility Commission is encouraging utilities to strengthen cybersecurity defenses as a response to threat of cyber-attacks.
The PUC says “evolving geopolitical developments” and referenced the ongoing conflict in Iran as the reason for the call to strengthen cybersecurity.
The commission has also provided tips for individuals looking to strengthen their cyber security.
- Strengthen network protections by not having sensitive information on public internet servers
- Improve access security with strong passwords and phishing-resistant multi-authentication systems
- Addressing known software vulnerabilities
- Enhance monitoring and incident response planning
