Butler County Community College is applying for grants to improve document processing and upgrades for campus security.
On Wednesday, the Board of Trustees approved a motion to apply for Department of Education grants that total $500,000. These grants require a match.
The first project is to replace and modernize document imaging and processing, which is expected to make registration easier. The project cost is estimated at $750,000.
The second project would replace security cameras across the campus. It would give the school more access to federal defense contracts for training and connect cameras directly to the county 911 center. That project is projected to cost $125,000.
