Chase Elliott won his first race of the season Sunday, when he took the checkered flag over Denny Hamlin at Martinsville Speedway. It was the 22nd victory of his Cup Series career, which began 11 years to the day. It was also the first victory of the season for Hendrick Motorsports, the winningest team in Nascar history, who have also won a record 31 victories at Martinsville. Joey Logano, Ty Gibbs and William Byron completed the top-five Sunday.
The Cup Series is idle for the Easter weekend.
Nascar unveiled its list of 15 candidates for its Hall of Fame Sunday. Among the new nominees are current broadcaster Kevin Harvick. Among the holdovers from last year are Jeff Burton and the late Greg Biffle, who was killed in a plane crash in December. There will be three members elected for the 2027 class.
