Dorothy Eleanor Wilbert Welter Kay Duffy, 88, of Dade City, Fla., formerly of Butler, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026, in Dade City.
Born in Cabot on Jan. 21, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Earl Wilbert and Catherine McGee Wilbert.
Dorothy was a bookkeeper at Welter’s Automotive.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, in Herman.
A loyal wife and mother, Dorothy loved life, family, friends, crafts and crocheting. She was very active in 4-H and youth clubs. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being there for others.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Roleen Bookhamer and her husband, William, of Boyers, David Welter, of Gowrie, Iowa, Ronald Welter, Jr., of Dade City, Fla.; and Anthony Welter, of Butler; four grandchildren, Amanda Lisbon and her husband, Adam, Stephanie Higgins, Christina Welter, and Kevin Welter; and four great-grandchildren, Elijah, Gabriel, Kannon, and Achilles.
She is also survived by one sister, Carolyn McGrady and her husband, Pat, of Fenelton; one brother, Dennis Wilbert, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Ronald Welter, Sr., her second husband, John Kay, and her third husband, Orton “Dan” Duffy, and nine siblings.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home Downtown, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, on Wednesday, April 15, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
A Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at the funeral home with Rev. Ward Stakem, OFM, Cap., officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Herman.
