With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Joni M. Vogel, 68, of Butler. She peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
Joni was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and hosting family gatherings. She showed unwavering support, warmth and kindness which will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
She was born May 24,1957, in Butler. She is the daughter of late Arthur Dilts and Marie Joan Vavro Dilts. She is a graduate of Seneca Valley High School, class of 1975, where she was a proud majorette. She continued her education at Slippery Rock University and The American Bankers Association.
Joni recently retired after a successful career as vice president at NexTier Bank. Active in the community, Joni was a treasurer of the VFW Post 249 Auxiliary and co-president of Butler Football Boosters. In addition, she was the co-founder of the Butler Football Hometown Heroes program, and she also served on the committee.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin G. Vogel; three children, Joshua Graef and his wife, Allyson, of Cabot, Daniel Graef and his wife, Lita, of Butler, and Jesse Vogel and his partner, Emma S., of Butler; five grandchildren, David, Michael, John, Lily and Tyler Graef; five brothers, Jim Dilts and his wife, Lauren, of Charleston S.C., Tom Dilts and his wife, Joan, of Zelienople, Matt Dilts of Butler, Bob Dilts of Butler, Rich Dilts and his wife, Kathy, of Harmony; sisters-in-law Jackie Sealy and her husband, Rob, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sandy Moore, of Bakersfield, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Joni was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Bill Moore.
Friends and family will be received in the Martin Funeral Home Downtown, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, on Thursday, April 16, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17, at All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Rd., Butler, with Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in the memory of Joni M. Vogel to the VFW Post 249 Auxiliary, 429 W. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001 or to the Butler Football Hometown Heroes, 140 Garden Grove Dr., Butler, PA 16002.
