The Butler high school baseball team has reached the WPIAL championship game for the first time in 34 years following a 9-3 victory over Norwin Wednesday afternoon. Kyle Casteel pitched a complete game for the Golden Tornado. He allowed three earned runs on seven hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out 14. Butler is now 19-3 this season.
Butler will meet North Allegheny in the Class 6A championship next week in Washington. The Tigers defeated Canon-McMillan in the other semifinal last night.
The Karns City baseball team rallied back from a 6-0 deficit to defeat Brookville 8-6 Wednesday afternoon to win their second consecutive District 9 title. The Gremlins advance into a state sub-regional Class 3A playoff game next week.
