The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-4 last night at PNC Park. The victory snapped the Cubs 10-game losing streak. Ian Happ hit a tie-breaking three-run home run in the seventh inning, and drove in a total of five runs in the game. Pirates starting pitcher Bubba Chandler allowed four earned runs on eight hits over five innings. Reliever Yohan Ramirez allowed another four earned runs and took the loss.
Brandon Lowe hit a three-run home run for the Pirates. It was his 14th home run of the season. Bryan Reynolds added three hits.
The Pirates have now lost seven games in a row in which Chandler is the starting pitcher.
The Pirates and Cubs complete their four-game series tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm. Paul Skenes will start for the Bucs tonight.
The Minnesota Twins, led by former Pirates manager Derek Shelton, will come in for a weekend series beginning Friday night.
