A local resident is receiving recognition for his positive impact on the community.
John Greaves was presented with the Walwik Community Service Award by the Slippery Rock Rotary at a recent event.
The Walwik Community Service Award is described by Rotary officials as given to a “non-Rotarian area resident who exemplifies Slippery Rock Rotary’s vision of community service.”
Prior to retirement, Greaves worked with area teens as a history teacher, coach and athletic director. He also served the community as a member of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department before retiring from active-duty last year.
Greaves received a certificate which named him an honorary Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow, which means that the Slippery Rock Rotary donated $1,000 to Rotary International in Greaves name. He also received a Rotary Pin and Medallion.
