Gas prices have edged down both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas prices report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, dropped by a penny to reach $4.30 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by a nickel to reach $4.21. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.90, while the most expensive is in Uniontown at $4.43.
The average national gas price jumped by 11 cents over the past week to reach $4.11 which is 24 cents more than a month ago and 97 cents more than last year. Gasoline demand increased last week, and the price of oil also increased to nearly $87 a barrel due to instability in the Middle East.
