Electricity usage and distribution prices have gone up, leading to a higher bill according to the state agency that provides economic analysis.
The Pennsylvania Independent Fiscal Office says electricity prices are up 12 percent compared to last year. The IFO credits the increase to the rise in energy and distribution costs.
From December 2024 to May 2025, energy prices saw a nearly four percent decrease in year-over-year energy usage. Starting in June 2025, energy usage saw increases of 15, 17, and 11 percent every six months.
Distribution costs have risen from $86 in 2024 to $103 in 2026.
The average household electric bill went up from $213 in 2024, $232 in 2025, and $257 this year.
