The Butler City Main Street property that has been a longtime safety concern will soon be a thing of the past.
After approving about $100,000 for the demolition of 123 South Main Street last month, the City has been informed that crews will spend two or three days abating asbestos beginning on Monday (8/17).
The demolition of the building will then begin on the following Monday (8/24) followed by site reclamation work over the next week into the beginning of September.
Although Main Street traffic is not expected to be affected, the alley next to the property, East Birch Street, will likely need to be closed for some time.
