The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is continuing summer road project maintenance work around Butler County this week.
These activities include deck patching on Slippery Rock Road in Slippery Rock Township and New Castle Road in Worth Township, while pipe replacement work is planned for Ekastown Road in Buffalo Township.
Mill and fill will take place on Route 8 in Center and Brady Townships with seal coat work planned for Haysville and Fairmont Roads in Fairview Township as well as Slater Road in Concord Township.
Mowing is planned for Interstate 79 in Jackson Township along with Route 19 and Mars Crider Road in Cranberry Township.
Also, motorists who use the Route 422 Shearer Bridge in Butler and Summit Townships should be aware of rolling closures planned for this week. Beginning at 7 p.m. Monday night, the rolling closures of the bridge that carries Route 422 West over the Connoquenessing Creek will run until 9 p.m. in 15-minute intervals. Then Tuesday night, the same closures will occur eastbound. Drivers will see the closures stretch from the Mitchell Hill exit to the Route 38/Route 68 interchange
Finally, in Cranberry Township, a partial closure of Franklin Road between Cranberry Commons Drive and Mars Road will begin Tuesday at 9 a.m. and continue through September 3rd. A detour will be in place to allow for crews to reconstruct the roadway including new drainage, widening, and paving.
