Gas prices have shot up both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas prices report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, jumped by a dime to $4.40 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by 19 cents to reach $4.35. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $4.15, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $4.42.
The average national gas price increased by three cents over the past week to reach $4.09 which is the highest it has ever been on this date. Although gasoline demand decreased last week, the price of oil continued to increase to nearly $86 a barrel as instability continues during the conflict with Iran.
