Martin Truex, Jr. won the Nascar Monster Energy Cup Series race at the road course in Watkins Glen, New York Sunday. He held off Matt Kenseth at the finish, and saved enough fuel to complete his second road course victory. Brad Keselowski and Ryan Blaney each held the lead late, but had to pit for fuel over the final three laps. Pole winner Kyle Busch held a big lead early, leading the first twenty-one laps and winning the first stage. But mid-race contact with Brad Keselowski sent him sliding off the track. He recovered to finish seventh.
Hendrick Motorsports has announced that driver Kasey Kahne will not return for the 2018 season. The 37-year old former Rookie of the Year, who the Brickyard 400 in July.
