A familiar local face is returning to public service but in a different municipality.
Butler Township has approved Rick Schontz to take over a seat on the Planning Commission through July of 2019.
The seat formerly belonged to Fred Vero, who is resigning so that he is able to begin responsibilities as a Butler Township Commissioner in January.
Schontz stepped down as a member of Butler City Council in July of 2016 when he moved out of the city in order to be able to devote more time to caring for his parents. Schontz is the son of former Butler City Mayor Dick Schontz.
