Butler City Council has taken the first step in the creation of a new local organization to address some property issues.
At their meeting Thursday night, Council approved the introduction and first reading of an ordinance necessary to create a City of Butler Land Bank.
According to Butler City Mayor Bob Dandoy, this ordinance creates the Land Bank along with a Board of Directors who will establish a plan for policies and goals of the organization. Dandoy has chosen himself, Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White, attorney Gerri Paulisick, financial advisor Jeff Geibel, and former Executive Director of CCR Beth Gillan to comprise the initial board. This ordinance does not commit any city money to the Land Bank but that is possible in the future.
Council will vote on a second reading of this ordinance for final approval at their meeting next month. After that, a certificate of Incorporation will be requested from the Secretary of the Commonwealth before the Land Bank Board could meet.
