Butler Township commissioners are moving forward with filling a new law enforcement position in the municipality.
The commissioners approved a motion at their Monday night meeting to authorize drafting a job description and advertising for a Deputy Chief of Police.
This position is needed to accommodate the increase in the size of the department as well as improve the chain of command. The new Deputy Chief will be responsible for internal investigations, day-to-day operations, and reporting system accuracy.
Interested candidates must live within a 20-mile radius of Butler Township. Application packets will be accepted next month followed by interviews of perspective candidates in early March resulting in an estimated hiring in April.
