Police have released more information about a crash Sunday evening on Route 8 in Butler.
According to Butler Township Police, just before 7 p.m. on Route 8 South near West Central Equipment a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Jennifer Johns of Kittanning was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed.
Her vehicle veered into the northbound lane and struck a vehicle operated by Frank Novosel III. First responders called for three medical helicopters; there were also multiple ambulances on scene.
Johns was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger in the other vehicle, wife 35-year-old Brandi Novosel of Butler later passed away at the hospital as a result of her injuries. The condition of Frank and a juvenile passenger are unknown at this time.
A portion of Route 8 in that area needed to be shut down for almost four hours.
