Another Fire Prevention Week is now underway.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, the annual observance is held nationwide to remind residents of the dangers of house fires and how easily they can occur.
This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower” which focuses on reminding people that lithium-ion batteries should be bought, charged, and recycled safely to prevent the possibility of fire or explosion.
The American Red Cross recommends practicing a household fire escape plan twice a year and making sure all smoke alarms are functioning properly as well as pay particular attention to the possibility of fires starting in the kitchen or with home heating equipment.
