Gas prices have dropped slightly both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas prices report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, decreased by two cents to reach $4.30 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by seven cents to reach $4.19. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.85, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $4.32.
The average national gas price dropped by nine cents over the past week to reach $4.00. Gasoline demand decreased last week, and the price of oil also decreased to about $75 a barrel even though instability remains in the Middle East.
