A local project has been awarded state funding through the Department of Environmental Protection.
Standard Bent Glass in East Butler Borough will receive nearly $350,000 to replace two existing kilns with a new kiln that enables parallel processing, improved heating efficiency, and significantly shorter production cycles.
It is estimated that this work will result in annual energy savings of nearly $40,000.
This is one of 15 projects across the state to receive over $3 million through the Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions in Pennsylvania, or RISE PA, Small-scale Award Track. Collectively, the projects are expected to save businesses more than $470,000 in energy costs and reduce approximately 2,500 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions in their first year.
