Gas prices have jumped back up both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Butler as of yesterday is $4.75—which is an increase of 16 cents compared to last week.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by 12 cents to reach $4.70. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $4.48, while the most expensive is $4.80 in Latrobe.
Even though the average national gas price dropped by six cents over the past week to $4.29 this is still more than a dollar more per gallon than this time last year. Gasoline demand decreased last week, but the price of domestic oil increased by about a dollar to just over $95 a barrel.
