The Pennsylvania Department of Health has provided an update on measles cases in Pennsylvania including additional help from a specialist at the CDC.
The DOH reports on Monday that 26 new measles cases have been confirmed since Friday.
In total, nearly 1,300 people have been infected, 247 people have been hospitalized, 43 counties have at least one reported case, five people have had a measles-associated death, and four vaccinated people have been infected, but that makes up less than one percent of cases.
An Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has joined the state Department of Health to support measles response efforts.
Health officials advise everyone over the age six to be fully vaccinated with both doses to drastically reduce chances of hospitalization. More information can be found online through the state website’s Measles Dashboard.
