Gas prices have made an historic jump both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.

The average national gas price increased by 16 cents over the past week to reach $4.31 which is comparable to early June at a time when the price of gas usually is decreasing. Gasoline demand decreased last week, but the price of oil jumped by over $3 to over $96 a barrel due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
