The Pennsylvania Department of Health has issued another update concerning the measles outbreak affecting the state.
The DOH is reporting 17 new measles cases since last Friday (9/11).
In total, 693 people have been infected, 133 people have been hospitalized, 38 counties have at least one reported case, and two people have experienced a measles-associated death, not including one under investigation that recently occurred in Jefferson County.
The DOH also reports four vaccinated people have been infected which represents less than 1% of the total number of infections.
Health officials advise everyone over the age six to be fully vaccinated with both doses to drastically reduce chances of hospitalization. More information can be found online through the state website’s Measles Dashboard.
