Gas prices have jumped up both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas prices report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, increased by 11 cents to reach $4.31 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by a quarter to reach $4.26. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $4.14, while the most expensive is in Uniontown at $4.45.
The average national gas price increased by 13 cents over the past week to reach $4.00 which is a nickel more than a month ago and 86 cents more than last year. Although gasoline demand remained even last week, the price of oil increased to nearly $80 a barrel due to ongoing instability surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
