Gas prices continue to skyrocket both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, increased by 46 cents to reach $3.77 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole shot up by 50 cents to sit at $3.74. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.46, while the most expensive is in Jeannette at $3.80.
The average national gas price is up by 48 cents over the past week to $3.47 which is the highest since the summer of 2024. Following the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, oil prices shot past $100 a barrel for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. Gasoline demand dropped.
