The Butler Area School District is receptive to the possibility of borrowing to pay for projects to enhance safety and address facility needs.
At their meeting Monday night, the board heard from Superintendent Dr. Brian White about several pressing capital project needs totaling over $10 million.
These projects include necessary repairs at the Stadium Annex facility which is also used for gym at a cost of over $2 million as well as roof replacement or repairs at Connoquenessing, the Senior High, and Center Township. This work is part of conversations currently taking place with PNC investment bankers and bond counsel for the purpose of refinancing a series of floating rate bonds issued in 2007.
This process is still in the early stages and the district is waiting for a new bond rating to be issued before additional discussion at public school board meetings in April.
