Gertrude M. Cypher, 97, of Butler passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Mohan Personal Care Home in Butler.
Born December 3, 1919 in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Peter A. and Viola Smith Michel.
She worked as a seamstress for St. Fidelis Seminary in Herman for a number of years.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, particularly aprons and in her later years, playing cards.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Rose A. (Joseph) Stumpf of Herman and Jeannie (Bruce) Butler.
6 grandchildren: Dan (Beth) Stumpf of Franklin, Fr. Michael Stumpf of Pittsburgh, Curtis (Amy) Stumpf of Kent, OH., Ryan (Allyssa) White, Tim (Heidi Long) White and Jennifer (Daniel) Jacob all of Butler.
11 great-grandchildren: Logan and Jordan Stumpf, Max, Lila and Samuel Stumpf, Tylor and Lynsey White, Ethan and Matthew White, Mya and Emma Jacob.
A sister, Violetta Colllins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy J. Cypher who passed away February 17, 1956 whom he married October 24, 1944. An infant son, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA 16001 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 821 Herman Road. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
