Thomas R. Dunbar, 85,of Butler, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born April 27, 1932 in Glade Mills, the son of the late Howard M. and Rozella (Hay) Dunbar.
Tom was the Mars High School 1950 class president and graduated from Penn State University where he was in Alpha-Delta Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was a registered professional engineer and had retired after 34 years of service from Armco. He was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church. He had served on the environmental committee of the Southwestern Regional Planning Commission and the State Chamber of Commerce Committee. He was a past president of the Meridian Little League. He loved hiking, being outdoors and baseball.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan (Kevin) Bailey of Orlean, VA; his sons, Brady Richard Dunbar of Marienville and David Robert (Kristin) Dunbar of Greenville; his granddaughters, Jessica Dunbar of West Virginia and Cori Dunbar of Greenville; his grandson, Stephen Bailey of Orlean, VA; and his brother, Paul H. (Lois) Dunbar of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley (Walker) Dunbar whom he married July 23, 1955 and who died November 25, 2009 and his daughter, Pamela Jo Dunbar who passed away December 12, 2004.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 2-4 and6-8 PM.
Services will be held at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., PO Box 1522 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 11 AM with family friend, Rev. Richard Carlson and his pastor, Rev. Bruce Gascoine officiating.
Private interment in the Butler County Memorial Park.
