Joseph H. “Joe” Pierrel, 85, of Butler, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Joe was born on November 20, 1939, in Butler, PA, to the late Joseph C. and Mildred (Birch) Pierrel.
Joe graduated from Butler High School in 1957. He was the owner and operator of Joe Pierrel Auto, which he opened in 1960. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Butler, as well as the Bonaire Reunion Car Club. Joe enjoyed NASCAR, drag racing, as well as restoring old cars. Basically, if it didn’t have a motor and four wheels, then he wasn’t interested. He also enjoyed spending time with his loving family. Joe will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his son, Joseph J. (Melissa) Pierrel; his three grandsons, Shawn (Kayla) Pierrel, Joseph (Halie) Hinchberger, and Josh (Allyson) Hinchberger; great grandchildren, Jax, Nixon, Jacques, Izabella, and Laynie; his sister, Mary Ann (Lenny) Rock; as well as by his numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Leona Mae (Stamm) Pierrel, whom he married on March 3, 1960, and who passed away on September 16, 2025; as well as by his daughter, Jodi Hinchberger.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 1-3 and 5-7 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 7:00PM with Pastor David Maitland of First Baptist Church of Butler, officiating.
A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
