The Knoch and North Catholic boys basketball teams won their WPIAL Class 4A Quarterfinal Round games last night, and are headed for a Semifinal match-up Saturday.
–Knoch defeated Central Valley 57-24 last night at North Allegheny high school. The Knights went on a 22-6 run in the third quarter to pull away, after leading the game 27-15 at the half. Teegan Finucan led the Knights with 22 points.
–North Catholic defeated Elizabeth Forward 73-64, coming back from a 23-14 deficit in the opening quarter. Jude Rottman led the Trojans with 30 points. Jason Fredericks added 26.
The Knoch-North Catholic game Saturday will be broadcast on WISR. Tip-off is 1pm. Pre-game on 680am and 107.5fm is 12:45pm.
–Deer Lakes and Quaker Valley meet Saturday in the other Class 4A Semifinal. Deer Lakes ousted Hopewell 71-59 last night, while top-seeded Quaker Valley defeated Belle Vernon 72-41.
Tonight in the WPIAL Playoffs:
–The Seneca Valley boys will host Hempfield at 7pm in the Class 6A Quarterfinals.
–The North Catholic girls will meet Beaver at Pine-Richland high school in the Class 4A Quarterfinals at 6pm.
–The Seneca Valley girls travel to Pine-Richland Friday night at 7pm, also in the Class 6A Quarterfinals.
