A Butler man is facing charges after he allegedly put his hands around a woman’s throat and mouth.
The incident happened just after midnight Tuesday when police were called to a home on the 300 block of Westbrook Drive for a domestic incident.
According to charging documents, 39-year-old Daniel Cox was intoxicated, walking around his home threatening to take his life. Cox then asked the victim to stab him and loaded a shotgun.
Cox then attacked the victim by choking her and placing his hand around her mouth.
Cox was charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault, and harassment and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing has been set for February 12.
