An Allegheny County man has been charged in Butler for using a stolen credit card at several locations in Butler and Buffalo Townships.
The incident happened on April 14th to the 18th, when the victim reported to their bank $1,204 of fraudulent charges.
According to charging documents, 47-year-old Daniel Mellinger Jr. used the card to make purchases at Walmart, GetGo, Sheetz, Target, Dollar General, and more.
Police were able to connect Mellinger to the thefts because he used his Fox’s Pizza account to purchase food. Police then used video surveillance from the time of charges to further connect Mellinger to the purchases.
Mellinger has been charged with access device fraud, possession of a device knowing its counterfeit, theft by unlawful taking, and 20 counts of identity theft.
Mellinger was placed in the Butler County Prison and his bail was set at $10,000.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 13.
