A Brookville man is facing charges after being accused of attempting to attack a man with a chainsaw last month.
On August 17, Butler City police were called to a home for a physical altercation. When police arrived on scene two men were seen in the middle of the road fighting.
According to charging documents, 37-year-old Alan Berkey accused the victim of revving a motorcycle outside of Berkey’s home. The victim was in a car at the time of the alleged incident.
Berkey is then alleged to come outside with a chainsaw and threaten the victim. Along with another man on scene the victim was able to wrestle the chainsaw away from Berkey until police arrived on scene.
Berkey has been charged with aggravated assault and had bail set at $10,000 but after a preliminary hearing he was released on nonmonetary bail.
The case now moves to the Court of Common Pleas.
