A Butler man is accused of attempting to break into a home and then assaulting an officer.
The incident happened last Thursday when police were called to the 200 block of North Bluff Street for a man attempting to open doors to a home while antagonizing and threatening people.
When officers arrived, police found 48-year-old Valerian Dec attempting to break into a home.
When police attempted to speak with Dec, he blocked an officer from exiting his vehicle, leading to another officer placing Dec in custody. Once in custody, Dec allegedly slammed the back of his head into an officer’s face causing an injury while being searched by officers.
Dec has been charged with burglary, criminal attempt, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct and placed in the Butler County Prison on $70,000 bond as he awaits a September 8 preliminary hearing.
