Mary R. Shramowick, affectionately known as “Aunt Mae”, 97, of Butler, formerly of Kohler Ave., Lyndora, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
Born Dec. 18, 1927, in Lyndora, Mary was a daughter of the late Ignace and Mary Bunio Shramowick.
After graduating from Butler High School she began her long career in the legal field as a legal secretary. She worked for many years for several law firms before retirement.
She was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, which later became St. Fidelis Parish and is now part of All Saints Parish.
Mary was a former member of the church’s Ladies Guild and she attended Bible study. She was also a member of the Shawl & Knitting Club. For many years she volunteered for weekly visits to the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at St. Michael Church. She prayed the rosary daily and was very spiritual.
Mary loved to read, knit, and spend time with her family. She often cared for two of her grandnephews, B.J. and Alexander, who lived locally, and was like a surrogate grandma to them.
She is survived by four nieces; two nephews; one grandniece; six grandnephews; and two great-grandnieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
The family extends their appreciation for the wonderful care “Aunt Mae” received from Newhaven Court and VNA Hospice.
