The driver of a fatal crash in Connoquenessing Township has been formally charged by police and placed in prison.
Just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday police were called to the 100 block of Harmony Road for a fatal crash.
Police have now formally charged the driver 58-year-old Robert Pflugh of Butler with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and a DUI.
Pflugh told police he was driving from Zelienople and not looking at the road when he hit the victim 65-year-old Donald Phipps. According to Charging documents Pflugh claims he attempted to avoid hitting Phipps.
A blood draw was completed by the results are currently pending.
Pflugh is being held in the Butler County Prison on $250,000 bond as he awaits a preliminary hearing.
