The Gannon University men’s basketball team, led by head coach and Seneca Valley graduate Easton Bazzoli, have reached the Division II national championship game. The Golden Knights defeated Oklahoma Baptist 98-80 over the weekend and will meet Lander University from South Carolina Easter Sunday afternoon for the title. Tip-off in Indianapolis is 1pm.
The IUP women’s basketball team fell 72-49 to Grand Valley State in the Division II national championship game played in Pittsburgh Saturday.
In Division 1 – The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team stunned #1-seeded Duke with a last-second three-point shot to win 73-72 in the Elite Eight round Sunday. #2-seed UConn will meet #3-seed Illinois Saturday at 6:09pm in a Final Four match-up.
Also Sunday – #1-seed Michigan eliminated Tennessee 95-62 to reach the Final Four. The Wolverines will face another #1-seed in Arizona Saturday night.
All four #1-seeds in the women’s tournament are still alive, with undefeated UConn and UCLA advancing to the Final Four Sunday. South Carolina and Texas both face Elite Eight match challenges tonight.
