The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is teaming up with the Game Commission to mark National Hunting and Fishing Day this weekend.
Various programs will be held in locations across the state on Saturday including a fishing rod casting demonstration and learning station from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the McConnells Mill Heritage festival in neighboring Lawrence County. No registration is required.
Another event is planned for Sunday in neighboring Allegheny County. From 3 to 6 p.m. the Family Fishing Program will teach basic fishing skills at Marshall Lake in North Park. Registration is requested through the Fish and Boat Commission website.
Hunters and anglers are reminded to keep safety in mind this fall by wearing safety harnesses and life jackets. National Hunting and Fishing Day was established by Congress in 1971.
