With the Fourth of July weekend nearly upon us, state officials are offering reminders about fireworks safety.
Many celebrate the holiday with fireworks in their backyards, but that can lead to potential serious injuries.
Across the country, an estimated 14,000 people were injured by fireworks last year.
State officials say in order to ensure safe fireworks displays, avoid alcohol and drugs, use protective gear, maintain safe distances, and dispose of the fireworks safely.
They also say to keep pets indoors, as they can be spooked by fireworks.
