Lawmakers in Harrisburg are advancing bills that provide regulation guidance to municipalities regarding data centers.
Lawmakers in the House Energy Committee passed two bills this week.
One bill requires data center developers to disclose what the center is being used for, along with the total water usage for the facility.
The other bill aims to prevent harm to the health and wellbeing of local communities. The bill would directly do three things:
- Protect the health and well-being of residents living near data centers.
- Ensure responsible siting and operation of these facilities.
- Support sustainable economic development that preserves community quality of life.
The bill will now advance for a house vote.
