The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is alerting residents to rate increases as summer arrives.
The PUC has announced that consumers should be prepared for increases on monthly bills set to take effect on June 1.
Electrical billing is impacted by the market price of electricity and the amount of electricity used. On June 1, generation price adjustments may increase supply costs for many customers.
For some customers this could lead to roughly a 50 percent increase on their energy bill, according to the PUC.
West Penn Power customers may see an increase of 10 percent on their usage on their monthly bill.
Consumers having difficulty with their provider can always contact the PUC’s Bureau of Consumer Services at 1-800-692-7380 for assistance, consumer education, and additional information about available utility programs.
