Last week the Governor joined another lawsuit against the Trump Administration over student loan caps.
Governor Josh Shapiro announced he joined 24 other states in a lawsuit challenging a new federal regulation capping the total amount of loans a student can borrow for certain degrees.
The rule lowers the financial aid available for degrees that are not deemed as a “professional student.”
According to the lawsuit, the federal rule will impact nurses and advanced practitioners, physician assistants, mental health and rehabilitation specialists, and teachers and collegiate Instructors.
The lawsuit asks the courts to compel the Department of Education to create a commonsense definition of the term “professional student” as described in the budget bill signed into law by President Donald Trump.
