The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-1 last night in the opening game of their three-game series. The victory was the Brewers 10th in a row.
Pirates starting pitcher Andrew Heaney’s recent struggles continued. He allowed six runs on nine hits over four innings and took the loss. He allowed two walks and hit two batters, dropping his record to 5-10.
Former Pirates pitcher Jose Quintana improved to 10-4 with a strong start. He allowed only a solo home run to Pirates catcher Joey Bart in the third inning. The Pirates managed only two other hits in the game, including a Bryan Reynolds double.
The Bucs and Brewers play again tonight at 7:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:15pm. Paul Skenes will start for the Pirates.
