Congressman Mike Kelly is weighing in on the federal government shutdown.
Kelly said in a statement that House Republicans passed a spending bill last month to keep the government open. He blames Senate Democrats for rejecting that legislation.
“The spending bill passed by House Republicans last month is a clean, responsible short-term solution — without strings attached — to keep the government’s lights on and its doors open,” Rep. Kelly said in a statement. “Now, Senate Democrats have repeatedly rejected our legislation and are demanding to include more than $1 trillion in new spending.”
Meanwhile, statewide Congressional Democrats say Republicans have full control of the government and could pass the bill.
However, Senator John Fetterman was the lone Democrat in the U.S. Senate to vote in favor of the spending bill.
