Ruth Marie (Balentine) Byerly, 97, of Pittsburgh passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026. She was born in Pittsburgh on August 17, 1928, to the late Samuel and Marie (Rorison) Balentine. Ruth was employed as a head cook at Stouffer’s Top of the Triangle.
She was known for being a fantastic cook and baker, great seamstress and dressmaker. She enjoyed crocheting and tatting, knitting and other hands-on crafts. In her free time, she played bingo, lottery and slots, and enjoyed reading horoscopes.
Mother of Susan (Adams) O’Shea and Donald “Ozzie” Byerly; grandmother of James Adams Jr and Donald Byerly Jr.
Along with her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her siblings, Emily Forder, Margret Stilburek, Earl, David and Jack Balentine.
