Governor Josh Shapiro is calling for reforms to help people living in manufactured home communities.
Shapiro says that out-of-state property management companies are taking over handling operations of the communities and raising lot rental prices.
Locally, Stackhouse Properties has started running communities, but residents tell our newsroom their rental prices have risen significantly over the last couple of years.
“Owning your own home is the American dream, but in recent years, we’ve seen greedy out-of-state corporations buy up our communities, increase costs to unaffordable levels, and take advantage of Pennsylvanians, especially our seniors,” Shapiro said.
Shapiro is proposing a bill that would limit the annual lot rent increases.
