A local organization is celebrating their 30th anniversary with a special gathering this weekend.
The Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition is planning to meet at Jennings Environmental Education Center on Saturday.
A program called “Mine Mysteries” will take place from 12:30 to 3 p.m. providing kids of all ages with more information about coal formation, the life of a coal miner, coal tools, and how this activity affects water treatment or quality.
A second program called “What’s in the Pond?” will use nets and tools to see and identify what lives in a treatment system and learn about the importance of different creatures.
Visitors will also be able to take a 45-minute guided tour of the Jennings Treatment System or explore the facility through self-guided tours. Visit the Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition on Facebook for more information.
